Pastor’s Corner

Dear Friends,
This week, we see the figure of John the Baptist calling out as if a voice in the wilderness to repent. During the season of Advent, we reflect on how Advent is a season where we are waiting in joyful anticipation of the coming of Christ, and His second coming.

During Advent, in order to repent, we look toward Mary who was a model of waiting patiently for the Lord. We wait for the Lord during the Year of the Eucharist through Adoration. My personal hope for the Year of the Eucharist is that many discover the joy of attending Eucharistic Adoration. Holy Mother Church finds herself in a place to reprioritize its mission to go out to the peripheries and proclaim glad tidings to the poor. In order for us to do this most effectively, it starts with inspiration.

During the Year of the Eucharist, we are reminded and exhorted and it is brought to the forefront that we draw inspiration from the Eucharist. Where our Lord is wholly, truly and substantially present in the host. Word on Fire puts forth a Magazine quarterly called “Evangelizing Culture.” For Autumn 2022, the content is about the Eucharist. In the magazine, there is a beautiful reflection on steps toward a Holy Hour revival over the next three years. Here are five practical steps.
  1. Look up opportunities for Eucharistic Adoration. In our parish, there is Wednesday 12pm-6pm.
  2. Make a commitment. When it comes to the Holy Hour, the most important thing is to commit to it.
  3. Have reading materials ready.
  4. Share your love for the Holy Hour with others.
  5. Take things to the next level. Pray for an increase in people going to the Holy Hour. Pray for vocations, add another Holy Hour to your day.
These are ways in which we can increase our awareness of the Lord’s presence in our lives by silencing the world around us and listening to the voice of God. We need to be comfortable with our own thoughts and comfortable in our own company. If we are uncomfortable in silence, perhaps this is our conscience telling us to Repent! True repentance leads us to living with joyful anticipation of our Lord’s coming.

God Bless you and your families.

Sincerely Yours,
Fr. David Aufiero

Parish News

Adopt-A-Family will be returning to Holy Family, and as in years past, gifts will be purchased and distributed; Holy Family has adopted 5 families. Posters with the families' requests can be found in the parish hall. Please consider participating in this very important community event. Also, if you have any gently used clothing or household items that you would be able to donate, please drop off in the parish center by December 11, 2022. Thank you in advance for your anticipated support.
Mark your calendar to lend a hand with decorating the church for Christmas. Volunteers are needed on December 18th, right after the 10:30 mass, to set up the manger and the Christmas trees and to place the poinsettias. Come see how the church is beautifully transformed by our parishioners!
