Something incredible is happening.
This Sunday, we celebrate the joy and the birth of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Jesus saves, glory to God on high!
As I think about my favorite Christmas memory, I have an image of this peaceful night in Bethlehem. There is no room for Mary and Joseph in the inn, but they gather in a manger. In this moment, one can only imagine the peace and the calm that Mary and Joseph must have felt, and not to mention the incredible amount of joy of the coming of the new savior. So much promise, so much to be hopeful for and so much that has yet to be fulfilled. Something incredible is happening.
Savor the moment. Jesus is the reason for the season. Did you know according to St. Bonaventure, St. Francis of Assisi in 1223 sought permission from Pope Honorius III to do something for the kindling of devotion to the birth of Christ and made the first nativity scene? As part of his preparations, he made a manger with hay and two live animals in a cave in Greccio, Italy. Thank you to our crew that helped make our altar come to life for the season of Christmas.

The Lord doesn’t stop calling. He is always doing something new, and calling us to cultivate ways of worship in our own lives. During the Year of the Eucharist, may we continue to seek these ways out. This season, be at peace, and from all of us here at Holy Family, MERRY CHRISTMAS!
