Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Today, I would like to lift up a poem by St. Francis of Assisi.
I recently purchased The Holy Hour, meditations written for Eucharistic Adoration. This had a collection of poems, scripture, paragraphs on the Catechism compiled by Word on Fire, and a foreword is written by Bishop Robert Barren. I think it is very fitting during the Year of the Eucharist promulgated by Bishop Byrne in our Diocese to stop and reflect on the beauty and splendor of the Eucharist, the source and summit of our faith. This book helps us to increase our love and zeal for the Eucharist.
Here is th Poem by St. Francis. My prayer is that during this year, we begin to develop our own sentiments which capture the Eucharist in all its beauty, truth and splendor.

St. Francis of Assisi “Let the Whole of Mankind Tremble”
Let the whole of mankind tremble The whole world shake And the heavens exult When Christ, the Son of the living God, Is present on the altar In the hands of a priest. O admirable heights and sublime lowliness! O sublime humility! O humble sublimity! That the Lord of the universe, God and the Son of God, So humbles Himself That for our salvation He hides Himself under the little form of bread! Look, brothers, at the humility of God And pour out your hearts before Him! Humble yourselves, as well, That you may be exalted by Him. Therefore, Hold back nothing of yourselves for yourselves so that He Who gives Himself totally to you may receive you totally.
