Pastor’s Corner

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
In this week’s Gospel, we see Jesus instructing the disciples to be rich in what matters to God. And what matters to God? I believe what matters most to God is our willingness to be generous with our time, talent and treasure. Everything we have is a gift from God. Whether this be from our material possessions or our families, personalities, cognitive abilities, hard work and especially our faith are all gifts from God. We are called to make ourselves a self- gift towards others. When we do this, we use our gifts to the best of our ability and thus we store ourselves treasure in heaven, and this is what matters most to God.

I also need to mention the importance of praying for others. We stand in solidarity with our extended Catholic family all over the world when we offer prayers for them. This weekend, we have a really great youth conference, called Steubenville East being held in the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield. The conference will be in the heart of our Diocese and includes different engaging topics relative to our youth, mass a beautiful holy hour and confessions. It always takes my breath away when the youth march to the altar in the closing mass when they are asked if anyone feels inspired to be a priest or religious. Pray for this endeavor and for the youth who are not only the future but the now of our church. God bless you and your families.
Sincerely Yours,

Fr. David Aufiero
