Pastor’s Corner

+JMJ+
Dear Friends,
I wanted to take this opportunity to give some updates with regard to the parish before I depart for Springfield.

Cemetery: Thanks to Deacon Rod for coordinating the cemetery clean-up. The cemetery is now open for spring burials and a weekly mowing schedule has been set in order to keep the grounds looking good. Please join me in congratulating Deacon as this week he celebrates 5 years of ordination to the permanent diaconate!

Music Director: I have been unsuccessful in securing any sort of "fill-in" while looking for a new director. In the meantime, I want to thank our choir for the way in which they have stepped up to lead us in song.

Altar Rails: I was able to find another craftsman to complete the altar rail project. Larry Roux, a local Catholic man from Turners Falls, will begin work on the rails this week. The cost of the project has increased to $15,000, nevertheless, due to a recent large donation, we have raised nearly all the funds needed to complete it. Thank you for your generosity!

Solar: Recently the parish has been connected to a community solar program, which offers a 10% discount on our electric bill. The solar farm is located in Lansborough, MA at a former golf course. We should begin to see a reduction in our bill mid-summer.

Fr. Frank: I want to thank Fr. Frank for his help in the parish this past year. I know we all wish him well as he begins his new role as the Administrator of Our Lady of the Valley in Sheffield, MA.
God bless you,
Fr. Jon
